Just days after a winter storm, Fargo street crews are already thinking spring. Workers on the dayside shift are shaving snow off corners of all 1,900 lane miles of street. They are making corners, round. Usually they are square after being plowed.
The work is expected to last at least one week. It will open drains, allowing melted snow to flow into the drains and not stand, then refreeze, which causes potholes.
Tony Fennell – Fargo Public Works Director: “Kind of looking ahead at the weather. We're seeing some 40's here coming up pretty soon so waters going to start running and we need to get rid of it right away.”
The night crew will start helping next week.
