Moorhead looking for 3 trip to state in last 4 seasons

Bemidji, MN (WDAY TV) - It’s what every Minnesota hockey player hopes for before the season begins: a chance to go to state. For the 40 guys that make up the rosters of Moorhead and Brainerd their dreams are almost a reality. The Spuds are back in the section title game for a 16th straight year.

It’s what every Minnesota hockey player hopes for before the season begins: a chance to go to state. For the 40 guys that make up the rosters of Moorhead and Brainerd their dreams are almost a reality. The Spuds are back in the section title game for a 16th straight year.

The Spuds aren’t playing rival Roseau or even Bemidji, who they beat in this game last year. Instead it's Brainerd, a team the Spuds beat 4-0 and 4-1 in the regular season. Still, Moorhead knows the Warriors have the offensive firepower to win this game.

Dave Morinville – Moorhead Head Coach: “They've got some high end forwards, 3 forwards with over 60 points, we have 30 something. We have to know when they're on the ice; give them a lot of ice. They're going to tag you.

Bryant Christian – Moorhead Senior Forward: “Brainerd is a physical team. They win battles, put body on you, and slow you down. We won both regular season games, so it give us confidence, but also gives fuel to their fire. They're going to come out ready to play.”

A win sends the Spuds to state for the 3rd time in 4 years.
