BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Many parts of the Dakotas did not see as much snowfall as expected from this week's storm, but it did set some records in South Dakota.

The National Weather Service reports that Huron on Wednesday set a snowfall record for the date with 3.7 inches, breaking the city's 1916 record of 2.1 inches.

Pierre and Sisseton both set precipitation records on Tuesday — Pierre with 0.32 inches and Sisseton with 0.76 inches. Pierre's record had stood for 14 years, Sisseton's for nearly half a century.

The storm did dump heavy snowfall in some areas. Reports show nearly a foot in the southern North Dakota counties of Emmons and Richland, and more than a foot in some spots in South Dakota's Spink and Hand counties.
