West Fargo city employees given Wednesday off

The city of West Fargo announced it would be closing its offices tomorrow...ten hours ago when the sun was still shining. Snow didn't start falling in the metro until just recently, but West Fargo Mayor Rich Mattern knew it was the right decision to close city offices long before that.

The city will only clear snow emergency routes until heavy snow stops falling tomorrow. The mayor says police and street crews will still be on duty, but since Municipal Court is scheduled for Wednesday, he wanted to keep as many people off the roads as possible.

Mayor Rich Mattern – West Fargo: “I'm still mindful of what happened to those four young ladies at NDSU and so to me it's better to be safe than sorry.”

The Mayor said if employees do want to come to work instead of taking a vacation day, they are more than welcome.
