Jamestown, ND (WDAY TV) - Two people are hospitalized after a crash in I-94 in Stutsman County yesterday afternoon. The Highway Patrol says 29-year-old Christopher Schmit from Fargo was headed east near Medina when he lost control, went through the median and ended up in the westbound lanes.

He hit the rear tires of a semi trailer headed west, spinning, and eventually coming to rest on the Interstate. A semi driver coming over a hill in the westbound lanes hit his brakes, but wasn't able to avoid Schmit's truck.

Both vehicles went into the median with the semi ending up on its side. Schmit and his passenger, 25-year-old Mikki Schmit were taken to the hospital in Jamestown, then lifeflighted to Sanford in Fargo.

Christopher is in guarded condition and Mikki in satisfactory. The driver of the semi was not hurt.
