Winter storm warning through Sunday evening for parts of North Dakota and Minnesota

GRAND FORKS – The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for northeastern North Dakota and north-western Minnesota through Sunday night.

GRAND FORKS – The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for northeastern North Dakota and north-western Minnesota through Sunday night.

The weather service es-timates about six inches of snow will fall over most of northern North Dakota and northern Minnesota; three to five inches is expected to accumulate from Valley City, N.D., to Fargo, to Wadena, Minn., and southward.

Snow will spread into the Devils Lake, N.D., region tonight, reaching the Red River by midnight and northern Minnesota by sunrise tomorrow.

Winds will be east to southeast at 15 to 30 mph tonight and become north 15 to 30 mph Sunday after-noon and evening. This will cause some blowing and drifting snow, accord-ing to a release from the National Weather Service.

Another significant storm system is expected in the Northern Plains Tues-day and Wednesday.
