WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Construction bids for a new West Fargo high school are almost $2 million less than what the project's architects expected.

West Fargo is expanding the Sheyenne Ninth Grade Center to make a new high school. New classrooms and technical education space are part of the first construction phase.

West Fargo Superintendent David Flowers tells The Forum newspaper that bids for the work came in at just over $11 million. The architects thought it would cost almost $13 million.

Next year, the center will be adding an auditorium, locker rooms and space for the arts.

West Fargo voters have approved spending $82.5 million for school facilities. A new middle school and elementary school are also being built.
