FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A North Dakota man sentenced to more than 17 years in prison in a drug conspiracy case was arrested after he failed to show up to start his prison term.

Ryan "Flip" Johnson, of Valley City, was expected to report to a federal prison at noon on Jan. 9. Court documents show he was arrested in California last week.

U.S. District Judge Ralph Erickson in October sentenced Johnson to 210 months in prison and recommended that he be allowed to serve his sentence in Duluth, Minn.

Johnson had pleaded guilty in August to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute a controlled substance. He had two prior drug convictions on his record.
