These snowy conditions are giving street crews a chance to get out in full force for only the second time this winter season.

Crews in Fargo and West Fargo have been sanding and salting all afternoon. They began plowing streets shortly after seven tonight. By that time there was just more than 2 inches of accumulated snow.

Public Works officials in Fargo say they've used about 600 tons of salt so far this year, compared with the more than 12,000 tons of salt used in a typical season.

Lee Anderson – Fargo Public Works: “We haven't had to use a whole lot of product through the winter, especially sand with the mild temperatures; we've barely touched our stock pile.”

The North Dakota DOT says it will also have three trucks operating all night keeping the interstate clear.
