MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A new exhibit tracing the rise of iconic sports photos and their influence on popular culture opens Sunday at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts.

"The Sports Show" goes back 130 years, to the late 19th century. Among the images on display are Babe Ruth taking a bow at Yankee Stadium, Roger Bannister breaking the 4-minute mile barrier and U.S. track medalists Tommie Smith and John Carlos giving black power salutes during the 1968 Olympics.

The exhibit includes photographs by Diane Arbus, Richard Avedon and Andy Warhol. It runs through May 13.
