The city of Moorhead is trying to manage a familiar, longtime parking problem on congested streets as schools grow in size. City leaders met with MSUM student leaders. They talked about a newly released survey from last spring, showing issues on streets near campuses during the day.
Students aren't parking in some campus lots. Leaders are deciding how to help the problem. Some ideas include better signage, time limitations, and ticket enforcement.
Lisa Vatnsdal – City of Moorhead: “Everyone's perception as we talked about at the meeting is a little bit different about what is a problem and is it an enforcement problem that we have or are there you know demand and supply issues that we need.”
Officials have had 9 meetings. They hope to narrow down solutions to act on by May. For more information or to comment, go to the city's website.
