Valentine's Day may be over, but a Fargo flower shop owner is still making people smile. She made a special delivery to Sanford Children's Hospital and we were there for it all.
The day after Valentine's Day, Kimberly Hess couldn't let her leftover flowers go to waste.
Kimberly Hess – Prairie Petals: "I try not to throw flowers away."
So she's rolling those flowers down the hallway of Sanford Children's Hospital.
Kimberly Hess: "So they each get a traditional red rose."
Hess is giving bouquets to the young patients.
Kimberly Hess: "So you can choose a flower from that group and you can tell us who you'd like them to go to."
And to their loved ones.
Rebecca Engel – Sanford Children’s Hospital Patient: "I made one for my mom and the nurses at Roger Maris Cancer Center and the nurses out here."
Rebecca Engel was diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukemia in August. Rebecca has been cancer free since September. She's responding well to treatment and hopes to go home this spring.
Rebecca Engel: "It'll be nice to go back and do something with my friends."
But for now she's here with her mom by her side.
Rebecca Engel: "She just stayed and gave up her normal life to help me get through this."
And today with these flowers, Rebecca said thank you.
Kimberly Hess hopes to make this an annual tradition.
