Woman convicted of manslaughter, conspiracy

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) — A jury has convicted a 22-year-old Jamestown woman of manslaughter and criminal conspiracy in the April killing a Somali immigrant.

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) — A jury has convicted a 22-year-old Jamestown woman of manslaughter and criminal conspiracy in the April killing a Somali immigrant.

The Jamestown Sun reports (http://bit.ly/zWI7BT) that jurors found Janelle Cave not guilty of murder in the beating and stabbing death of 18-year-old Abdi Ali Ahmed.

Ahmed's body was found last April in a ditch near Spiritwood.

Cave had testified that she was scared of Howard. Her sentencing will be in six to eight weeks.

Thirty-four-year-old Leron Howard has pleaded not guilty to the same charges. His trial is set to begin Aug. 7.

Criminal conspiracy carries of possible penalty of life in prison without parole, and manslaughter is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
