College and elementary students come together to make a difference for children in Haiti. With the help of Concordia College education students, Washington Elementary 5th graders dyed 1,500 wooden building blocks a rainbow of colors. The blocks will be sent to children in Haiti for them to play with.

The wood was cut and sanded by high school and elementary students last year. Youngsters also learned about the country of Haiti as part of the service learning project.

Emily Seller – Concordia College Education Student: “I don't know we think it's important for the students to understand the importance of helping worldwide and global issues.”

The blocks will be distributed to kids in Haiti in January during a medical mission involving area doctors and WDAY's very own Kevin Wallevand.
