Farm employees charged with stealing corn

OWATONNA, Minn. (AP) — Two employees of a farm in Steele County are charged with trying to steal about 14,000 bushels of corn from their employer.

A criminal complaint says the two had a plan to steal the corn during the night and when the farm owner was out of town. The complaint says one of the defendants, 73-year-old Arnold Schwamm, told a third person he invited to participate that the farmer wouldn't miss the corn and would think it was lost to shrinkage. The 14,000 bushels of corn has a value of about $84,000.

The Post-Bulletin (http://bit.ly/wl7rmm ) says Schwamm and 50-year-old Jeana Faye Anderson are charged with theft and conspiracy to commit theft. The farmer contacted the Blooming Prairie police chief after becoming suspicious about the employees.
