ND Board of Higher Education to sue over UND nickname law

Today the Board of Higher Education has voted to sue to overturn the state law that requires UND to use the Fighting Sioux nickname and logo. Attorney general Wayne Stenehjem says he's confident the law violates the state constitution and he believes the board will win in court.
UND wants to drop the nickname fearing penalties from the NCAA, but supporters turned in petitions last week to put the issue to a state-wide vote in June.
