Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) -- In four hours, 6 more numbers will be drawn for the Powerball jackpot, done in 42 states.

The winnings increased from 250 million to 310 million dollars after no one matched the numbers.

At 310 million dollars, the jackpot is just shy of the 2006 Powerball, which cashed out at 364 million.

Sheila Korynta/Lotto Player: "I normally don't buy them, but the jackpot's this high and I figured I might as well, just for the fun of it."

Some people are playing for leisure, but for others, its part of their lifestyles. Eric Jacobson has been playing for more than 10 years, and hasn't won a penny.

Eric Jacobson/Veteran Lotto Player: "Oh its just nice to dream a little bit, all the efforts you put into your daily routine, a few ways to make it easier."

But since the ticket price has increased from 1 dollar to 2, there are mixed feelings.

Kate Gackle/Simonson Cashier: "Complaints about that because they think they pay enough for taxes and what else."

Anthony Thomas/Lotto Player: "Two dollars, yeah but the money you would win would be more than worth it."

All it takes is two dollars(cash, hands, register) and now I'm one in 175 million.

First time players say they wouldn't be selfish with the money.

Korynta: "To share it with people would be great. Go on vacation, its been, a long time since I've gone on vacation. I'd take my family."

Thomas: "I want to do some things for my family and I've always dreamed of doing something for the homeless. First thing, buy my mother a house."

But Eric Jacobson, says he'll take the money and run.

Jacobson: "Buy a place and some land...collection of guitars."

Maybe after 10 long years, today will be his lucky day...or mine.

Some lotto players have been so generous they've even told cashiers they'd split the winnings with them. We will have those numbers at 10.
