BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The president of North Dakota's Board of Higher Education says he's happy with the finalists for the job of chancellor of North Dakota's university system.
Grant Shaft says any of the four men would make a good chief executive, and he says each one has his own strengths.
On Thursday a search committee voted to have the four invited back for another round of interviews in late February.
They are California university president Hamid Shirvani (HAH'-mid shur-VAH'-nee), Missouri university president Warren Wray, Nebraska education administrator Marshall Hill and Fargo state Sen. Tim Flakoll (FLAH'-kol).
Shaft says one of the board's priorities is to have someone who can mend fences with the North Dakota Legislature.
Shaft says Flakoll has the strongest political background, but other candidates have more impressive academic credentials.
