The Flood Diversion Board of Authority continues to make strides. Its Land Management Committee met at Fargo City Hall.

Members say some properties upstream will need to be purchased due to the diversion route, specifically in the Oxbow, Hickson and Bakke areas.

In the next two months, members will be putting together a plan on how to approach those property owners. They say no one would be forced to give up their properties.

Pat Zavoral – Fargo City Administrator: “There are situations right now that are occurring where people might have a situation where if there home is going to be flooded they might be at risk right now simply because they're getting older.”

A preliminary study shows about 800 homes would be affected by diversion operations.
