DULUTH, Minn. (AP) — A Duluth woman has pleaded guilty to stabbing her sister in the face with a piece of wood.
Stephanie Lynn Mattinas pleaded guilty to third-degree assault in St. Louis County Court Tuesday.
Mattinas told police that the fight started when she "snaked out" after seeing her sister and boyfriend together and began to attack both. She was accused of assaulting her sister with an 8-inch wood molding fragment and beating her boyfriend with a baseball bat last February.
The sister was taken to a hospital, where the wood had to be surgically removed.
The prosecutor says as part of a plea agreement, Mattinas will pay restitution to the victims.
The Duluth News Tribune (http://bit.ly/xHcND5) reports sentencing is set for March 16.
