It's the first event of its kind to come to North Dakota. Tonight business and civic leaders in the metro community gathered at Ecce Art and Yoga in downtown Fargo to share ideas in a TEDx event.
TED stands for Technology, Engineering, and Design. TED events are known throughout the world. Tonight was an independently organized TEDx event and, not a full-fledged TED conference, but organizers believe it says something about the direction the community of Fargo is heading.
Mark Weiler – Owner, Ecce Art + Yoga: “I think this is incredibly important. When we began to set it up, we didn't know what the response would be, but as you can see it's been overwhelming. It was sold out within the first two weeks and we have a great collection of community leaders and innovators.”
TED events are known throughout the world and feature inspirational speakers from all walks of life, sharing personal stories and challenging colleagues to explore new ideas.
Doctor Susan Mathison is the founder of Catalyst Medical Center and a surgeon who specializes in Plastic Surgery. She was one of four key speakers tonight and spoke about what beauty means to her.
Dr. Susan Mathison – TEDx Speaker, Surgeon: “That thing inside our soul that makes us want to connect with the world. It's what brings us joy and contentment. It's really not just fluffy, it's a serious matter and kind of what life is all about.”
With tonight's overwhelming turnout, organizers are hoping to bring more TED-x events to Fargo in the future.
