A two-month long renovation project is wrapping up at the Clay County Jail. The almost 50 year-old building needed new plumbing. The project cost more than $100,000.
While under construction, between 25 and 30 inmates had to stay at other county jails. The Sheriff says moving inmates proved to be a complicated and time-consuming process.
Bill Bergquist – Clay County Sheriff: "At some times we had to take out a whole cell block and we had to house them in other jails while that cell block was being done. We'd move them back and move them to another cell block.”
