It started as an idea to help servicemen and women, and most importantly, their families. In only a short period of time, the Military Service Center is already fulfilling hundreds of requests a month.

It was a pilot program that started right here in North Dakota, and now after only three months, the Military Service Center in Fargo has already helped 1,000 customers.

O.C. Matt Mitzel – Military Service Center, Fargo: “General started this because his big priority is taking care of military families, and we are the executioner of that.”

The idea of the service center started in Bismarck and in October, a Fargo branch opened as well. In only a few short months, the service center has serviced military members from 16 different states and 6 different countries. Services range from health insurance support, to military ID's, to financial counseling - all free of charge.

O.C. Matt Mitzel: “It's a lot different than what it was 20 years ago when people came back and they were on their own for support. Now we have identified those shortfalls and we can help them with their problems.”

Mitzel says other states have already shown interest in the program.

The service center is open 8 to 5, Monday through Friday.
