Foggy weather leads to flight delays and cancellations at Hector Airport

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The fog left hundreds of passengers stranded at Hector International Airport, some for hours. Most flights are now scheduled to leave on time, but that could change again tonight. If you take a look at the schedule, just one flight has been cancelled and another delayed.

The fog left hundreds of passengers stranded at Hector International Airport, some for hours. Most flights are now scheduled to leave on time, but that could change again tonight. If you take a look at the schedule, just one flight has been cancelled and another delayed.

But if the fog worsens again this evening, departures and arrivals will be disrupted. Several flights were cancelled last night, which impacted morning departures. Flights to Denver, Chicago, Minneapolis and Salt Lake City were cancelled.

Melissia Mattfield and her husband were supposed to catch a connecting flight on Delta at 6:45 this morning to Minneapolis. From there, they were headed to Indianapolis for the Super Bowl. But their flight kept getting delayed and they were worried they may not make it to Indy at all.

Melissia Mattfield – Stranded Passenger: “My flight takes off from the cities at 7:48 so if we don't get there we won't be going to the SuperBowl because all the flights are booked to Indy.”

Shawn Dobberstein – Hector International Executive Director:” But believe me the people behind those ticket counters trying to reaccomodate you, want you to leave on time and get you to your destination on time as well. They're not there creating the delays.”
