A Breckenridge man is lucky to be alive after a snowmobile accident on the Bois De Sioux River.
Wilkin County Sheriff deputies got a call last night around 10:30 regarding a snowmobiler who left his home two to three hours earlier and never returned. A search team discovered the man three quarters of a mile south of Breckenridge on the river.
Authorities say the snowmobile was flipped over and it appeared the driver's face hit the handlebars or windshield. He was hospitalized for head injuries and hypothermia. Alcohol was possibly involved.
Sheriff Rick Fiedler – Wilkin County: “Another thing is make sure if you're riding especially at night make sure your lights work, you have somebody that knows where you're going to be what time you're coming home and make sure the ice is good.”
The man was not wearing a helmet at the time.
