ROCHESTER, Minn. (AP) — The best performance during an elementary school talent show in Rochester came from a parent.
Kindergartener Andrew Haworth was among students in the audience during Wednesday's show at St. John the Evangelist school. There was a piano performance, then a dance number. And, the 'third act' was a real head turner.
Andrew's jaw dropped when his dad, Sgt. 1st Class Rod Haworth, strolled into the school gym in his combat fatigues, fresh from duty in Kuwait. The crowd erupted in applause as the 6-year-old raced into his father's arms and buried his head in his dad's shoulder.
Andrew, his 2-year-old sister and their mom and dad will have two weeks together before Haworth will return to Kuwait. Andrew tells KTTC-TV (http://bit.ly/wE5JdE ) it feels like they're a family again.
