Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) -- A record number of teams performed routines in front of a very excited crowd. All dancing to become champion in North Dakota.

The Alerus Center hosted the 26th annual State Dance Championship. This year was the biggest competition ever with 37 teams. Organizers are excited about the program's growth because of the benefits the activity has for the dancers.

Organizer,Kyle Regynski, says, "they learn grace and poise and just character, they're so beautiful by the time they graduate and they're doing all of these wonderful dances and skills, so it's a lot of fun."

The first North Dakota Association of Dance and Drill competition was in Jamestown.
