Mother nature puts a damper on the annual snowmobile state ride

Richland County (WDAY TV) -- The annual snowmobile state ride was a lot different than most years, and you can blame mother nature.

Richland County (WDAY TV) -- The annual snowmobile state ride was a lot different than most years, and you can blame mother nature.

Usually, hundreds of people ride their snowmobiles around North Dakota. But, only 40 showed up to ride a bus throughout Richland County, starting in Mooreton. All because of a lack of snow.

The Southern Valley Trail Riders Association sponsored the ride. Organizers say it had to go on no matter what, snow or no snow.

Renee Braun with the ND State Snowmobile Committee says, "i'm sad, but we are trying to make the best of it, you know we are trying to, no matter what we our club is going to continue on, continue grooming our trails, so we want to support our club for the future years, we've got money to be doing all that.
