An Air National Guard Program affecting Fargo's 119th wing may be on the chopping block. On Thursday, the Pentagon and White House announced plans to make defense budget cuts. That includes a proposal to eliminate the guard's C-27J Transport Program at Fargo's 119th Wing. Over time, the wing was supposed to get four Spartan Cargo Planes. Pilots can easily maneuver these smaller planes and even take off on shorter runways.
Colonel Rick Gibney – Commander – 119th Wing: “If the commission is cut and there, then there will be various options that'll be looked at but really at the direction of the international guard and the Air Force.”
Senators John Hoeven and Kent Conrad also support the C-27-J Program, promising to fight to keep it in place.
