The only bar in Oslo, MN, soon will be able to open on Sundays.

Residents of Oslo voted on the issue Wednesday, passing it 65 to 37, according to Mayor Scott Kosmatka

Minnesota law requires towns to have a city-wide vote to decide if bars can be open on Sundays. A number of Minnesota towns held the same vote in November. Oslo city leaders had planned to put the question on that ballot but missed the deadline.

The town's mayor says the measure will help the town's economy.

"It would be beneficial, I feel, to keep the business here in town rather than have people drive to Grand Forks for a beer or what not. They can keep the money here," Kosmatka said.

Kosmatka says it also might prevent drinking and driving because people in Oslo won't have to drive to other towns to buy alcohol.
