Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Lawmakers are looking at a plan to eliminate the Air National Guard's C-27-J transport program at the 119th Wing in Fargo.

The first of four of the Spartan Cargo planes was supposed to be delivered at the end of the year or early next year, but the mission is in jeopardy because of defense budget cuts.

After the Base Realignment program back in 2005, the 119th was promised the C-27-J's as the next flying mission. Up until 2007, the base flew F-16 fighter jets since they've flown the C-21.

Senator Kent Conrad says he's concerned by the proposal and will work to reverse the decision. Senator Hoeven says the proposal is not acceptable.
