Oil field waste plant approved near White Earth

WHITE EARTH, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota regulators have approved plans for a facility near White Earth that will process oil field waste, over the objections of some area residents.

WHITE EARTH, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota regulators have approved plans for a facility near White Earth that will process oil field waste, over the objections of some area residents.

The CCS Midstream Services facility will separate usable crude oil from tank sludge, drilling mud and oily saltwater. The order from the state Industrial Commission allows the facility to handle up to 8,400 barrels of waste oil fluids daily. It also requires a $200,000 bond.

Some White Earth residents are concerned about truck traffic, road damage and declining property values. The Industrial Commission says that many of those concerns are outside of its jurisdiction.

State waste management director Scott Radig tells The Bismarck Tribune (http://bit.ly/wb0Mjl ) that the treatment plant will be beneficial because it will reclaim waste.
