The judge is denying the appeal of a Cooperstown man accused of killing an NDSU researcher. Daniel Wacht is charged with murder in the death of Kurt Johnson. His attorney argued that there wasn't enough evidence tying Wacht to the crime to support the search warrants. During one of those searches, authorities found Johnson's severed head. Wacht pleaded not guilty and a trial is scheduled to start April 16. Johnson's body has not been found.
