WAHPETON, N.D. (AP) — The Richland County Sheriff's Office has put three handguns out of commission after determining they could be faulty and misfire.

Sheriff Larry Leshovsky (luh-SHEV'-skee) tells the Wahpeton Daily News (http://bit.ly/zxcvTK) that his office examined its firearms after a gun misfired late last year. A deputy's handgun accidentally went off when the deputy was holstering it during an arrest.

The bullet went through the deputy's billfold, but no one was hurt. The state crime bureau is investigating.

Leshovsky say a master armorer will examine the three handguns taken out of service.
