The winningest coach in men's college basketball was in Thief River Falls Monday. Former Northern State University Coach Don Meyer spoke at a luncheon at Digi-Key.

Coach Meyer has received recognition from national media including Sports Illustrated and ESPN.

Meyer is on the road to share skills in leadership, and chat about life experiences.

Meyer has had his share of challenges off the court. In 2008, his left leg was amputated after a serious car accident and he was diagnosed with an inoperable cancer. Meyer focused Monday's talk on what he calls the "5 C's" to a successful team. They include concentration, courtesy and consistency.

Meyer says his mentors were his early coaches that taught him not only how to play, also how to love the sport.

In 38 years as a college head basketball coach, Meyer had 923 victories.
