22-year-old woman dies in Bismarck jail day after arrest on drug charges
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Authorities say a woman held on drug charges at the Burleigh County jail has died.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Authorities say a woman held on drug charges at the Burleigh County jail has died.
Burleigh County Sheriff Pat Heinert tells the Bismarck Tribune that 22-year-old Melissa Jans died in her jail cell on Jan. 14, a day after she was arrested on drug charges.
Heinert says results from a preliminary autopsy showed that Jans' death was drug-related.
Heinert says Jans had been been examined at a Bismarck hospital for detoxification and released prior to being jailed.
