The city of Moorhead is hoping for more dollars from the state of Minnesota, when it comes to flood control. This after Governor Mark Dayton laid out his big bonding proposal.
Out of Dayton's 775-million dollar bonding plan, $20 million is set aside for all flood control project in Minnesota. Flood mitigation projects in Moorhead alone will cost at least $20 million.
The good news is, it is early in the process and the Minnesota House and Senate, along with conference committees, will hammer out the final flood mitigation dollars down the road. This does not mean the city will not move forward with plans to get Moorhead protected by the end of 2013.
Mark Voxland β Moorhead Mayor: βIt is a combination of many things. We have buyouts left to do, dikes yet to build, and control structures need to be built.β
Wastewater fees along with special assessments and some state dollars will help fund those projects this year.
