ND man found guilty of theft from flood victim

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A former Bismarck hotel worker accused of stealing a wallet belonging to a displaced Minot flood victim has been found guilty of felony theft.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A former Bismarck hotel worker accused of stealing a wallet belonging to a displaced Minot flood victim has been found guilty of felony theft.

A jury found Derek Bendixson guilty on Tuesday. South Central District Judge Gail Hagerty ordered a presentence investigation be conducted. Bendixson faces up to five years in prison.

The Bismarck Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/y9lBO9) that court documents indicate Bendixson was caught on video surveillance taking the wallet, putting it under the front desk at the La Quinta Inn and Suites, and later retrieving it.

The hotel terminated Bendixson after he was charged.
