FARGO – Police arrested a 25-year-old Horace man and are looking for two other suspects in connection with the reported kidnapping of a 17-year-old boy at gunpoint overnight in north Fargo.

Sgt. Jim Kringlie said police were called at 11:19 p.m. to the 3100 block of 10th Avenue North to meet with the victim and his mother.

The victim told police he was kidnapped by acquaintances at gunpoint from a north Fargo alley at about 9:30 p.m. He said the kidnappers assaulted him and threatened him before they released him, Kringlie said.

“He knew these people, so the public is not in danger at all,” he said. “It wasn’t a random kidnapping.”

At 2:54 a.m. today, police arrested Joshua Arlie Lewis of Horace in the 4800 block of 16th Avenue South in Fargo on suspicion of kidnapping and terrorizing. Other charges are possible as the investigation continues, Kringlie said.

The victim sustained minor injuries and declined medical attention, Kringlie said. Investigators are still looking into possible motives for the kidnapping, he said.

The handgun reportedly used in the kidnapping has not been recovered, but police did recover a set of brass knuckles, Kringlie said.
