Hawley church building houses new preschool

Hawley, MN (WDAY TV) - An empty church becomes a classroom of sorts for Hawley Public Schools.

An empty church becomes a classroom of sorts for Hawley Public Schools. Over the past couple years or so Hawley's preschool has increased by about ten kids, leading to cramped conditions in the elementary school. So in July, the school system bought an old church building for about $180,000; much less than what it would have cost to build a new site. The preschool moved in last fall.

Phil Jensen – Hawley Public Schools Super: “Well I think it gives the preschool program kind of their own identity, their own space, they do not have to share it. As you can see in the background their stuff is all out there they can leave it there.”

Some of the building space is also leased out to the Lake Agassiz Special Ed preschool Program.
