A winter weather advisory is in effect in much of North Dakota, and most of South Dakota is under a wind advisory. The National Weather Service says falling temperatures during the day will give way to overnight lows just above and below zero, with the wind chill in some areas in the range of 20 degrees below zero. Rain and snow are likely in the two states.

More high temperature records fell Tuesday before the colder weather moved in. Records fells in the North Dakota city of Fargo and in the South Dakota cities of Sioux Falls, Aberdeen and Huron. The mercury rose into the 50s in all of those cities.
