Grand Forks police assisted officers from East Grand Forks after a pursuit shortly after 10 a.m. Thursday.

An EGF officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic offense, but the driver of the 1995 Chevy Blazer wouldn't pull over. Police identify the suspect as 33-year-old Christopher J. Kuznia of Grand Forks.

Grand Forks officers assisted in the area of the Kennedy bridge. When the vehicles were at the 5th St. N. and Gateway Drive intersection in Grand Forks, police say Kuznia doubled back and was heading back toward the Kennedy bridge.

Kuznia then took N. 4th St. and was heading toward downtown Grand Forks.

Officers say speeds reached around 50 mph at points during the chase.

At the intersection of N. 4th. and 4th Ave. N., Kuznia lost control of the vehicle and went into a snow bank. Kuznia still would not exit his vehicle and attempted to back out of the snow bank, crashing into an EGF squad car.

An EGF officer was able to subdue Kuznia and remove him from his vehicle. Kuznia was arrested by Grand Forks Police and cited for reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, driving under suspension and no liability insurance.

Police report no injuries in the incident.
