The State Board of Medical Examiners today voted unanimously to indefinitely suspend the medical license of a Fargo surgeon accused of drugging his wife more than 32 times in his home, and raping her.

The board made that decision today, two days after Norberg made an Alford plea in the case. The Alford plea means he doesn't admit guilt but acknowledges that a jury would likely convict him based on the evidence. Norberg faces up to 5-years in prison.

A pre-sentence investigation is expected to take 60 to 90 days. Norberg had been on voluntary leave from Sanford.
