MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Mourners are calling for an end to violence at the funeral of a 3-year-old Minneapolis boy killed by a stray bullet.

Family, friends and elected officials including Congressman Keith Ellison and Gov. Mark Dayton attended Wednesday's funeral for Terrell Mayes Jr. at True Vine Missionary Baptist Church.

The Star Tribune (http://bit.ly/zuj0Uv) reports Terrell lay in an open casket at the front of the church. He was dressed in a white suit and white hat, a teddy bear at his feet

Family members remembered Terrell as a boy who loved watching SpongeBob Squarepants and playing football in the yard.

Terrell and his brothers were heading for a closet after they heard gunfire Dec. 26. A bullet came through the wall and hit Terrell in the head. He died the next day.
