Home burglaries investigated in Mapleton, shots fired

Mapleton, ND (WDAY TV) - The Cass County Sheriff's office is investigating two home burglaries. During one, gun shots were fired.

Deputies were called to a home near Mapleton at 10:30 yesterday morning. Police say someone broke in while the homeowner was there.

He didn't confront the burglar and nothing was taken, but police say for some reason the burglar fired a small caliber handgun inside the home.

Shortly after, deputies were called to another home in the Mapleton area after a burglar got away with cash, jewelry and electronics. Deputies say the incidents are likely connected. They're looking for a lighter-colored 1990's SUV.
