My Best Friend's Closet is a tiny, tucked away consignment shop, so owner Glenda Haugen says marketing makes her business succeed.
Glenda Haugen – My Best Friend’s Closet: "In retail you have to be in the face of the customer all the time."
While marketing can cost around $2,500 a month, Facebook is free.
Glenda Haugen: "TV, radio, like I said the email."
So My Best Friend's Closet keeps consumers constantly clicking the "Like" button.
Rosie Savageau: "Every day that we post something to see if an item still available and sometimes there are threads of people," oh if she doesn't get it I want it."
Haugen says at least ten percent of shoppers, if not more, simply stop in because they saw something they liked on Facebook. The ladies come on here once a day.
Anna Lindberg - Manager: "Pictures of things that are on sale or things that come in."
Rosie Savageau: "Things you can't buy, brands we don't necessarily carry in this area that we do get in."
So to Haugen, it's a necessary part of promotions.
Glenda Haugen: "It's not just friends we have on Facebook, it's all the friends and the word of mouth as it spread."
It's still a new concept, and not all shoppers are already on board, but some say it's a great idea.
Ashley Simmons - Shopper: "There are so many people on Facebook, and I know everyone is looking to save money, especially businesses, so why not use it?'
As a sure-fire way of boosting business with these posts, these social media mavens are making use of this massive free marketing tool.
Ann Lindberg: "People will buy things. They'll see them, come in for them, and people will buy them."
