FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A Fargo man released from prison after serving time for his role in a fatal car wreck spent was freed for just two days before returning to court to face a 7-year-old rape accusation.
John Garza Canales was released Tuesday after serving about six years in prison on a vehicular homicide conviction. The 41-year-old was back in court Thursday on a charge of gross sexual imposition stemming from a November 2004 incident.
The Forum newspaper reports that he's accused of sexually assaulting the sister of a woman he had dated.
Charges weren't immediately filed. Four months later, he was arrested for causing a car wreck that killed 18-year-old Brady Blomseth of Mahnomen, Minn.
Canales' next court appearance is set for Jan. 26 at the Cass County District Court.
