The balloons are up and tables set. The West Fargo Shakers are getting ready for their annual New Year's Eve Bash.
Cover charge is $15. The party lasts from 7pm to 2am. You can expect appetizers, raffle prizes and the most affordable drinks in town. Proceeds go to Big Brother Big Sister of Fargo/Moorhead.
Mitch Finn – West Fargo Shakers: "We've done a lot of different charities in the past, but we're really excited this year with Big Brothers Big Sisters cause everybody seems to recognize that charity and we think it'll be a good turnout."
At the downtown YMCA, you'll find the Fargo Snow Bash. It's for Fargo students in grades 9 thru 12.
Phyllis Poss – Fargo South PTSA: "To pull together kids from all the schools and to build some new friendships as well as just have fun and hang out."
It's free of charge and lasts from 9 to 1. Food and drinks will be provided. There will be video games, an open gym and much more. Kids at the YMCA won't only be indoors, they'll also be outside sledding.
Officer Chris Potter – Fargo South High School: "We know that in this part of the country that youth alcohol abuse is a real issue and we have concerns as educators and parents to make sure our kids have alternative activities that are safe, supervised, alcohol and drug free."
Some other events around town: Former Nickelodeon star Kel Mitchell will make an appearance at The Venue. The show starts at 9:30. Cover charge is $5. You can also check out Minneapolis singer and actor Har Mar Superstar at The Aquarium. That show starts at 9 and costs 10 bucks to get in.
If you plan to spend New Year's Eve in Detroit Lakes, the jazz group David Ferreira Trio will perform at the Lodge on Lake Detroit from 7 to 10. No cover charge.
