Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- It's hard to believe, but just two years ago, most of us spent the holiday trapped inside our homes.

The first blizzard of the 2009 2010 season fell over Christmas, stranding millions of travelers from Canada to Texas. The Grand Forks Herald even named the historic storm, Alvin.

Alvin dumped 25 point 1 inches of snow on Grand Forks, 17 on Fargo, and a whopping 40 inches on Lead, South Dakota. Cleanup lasted weeks. People had to deal with drifts as high as houses.
