SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. (AP) — A South Sioux City man has been extradited from North Dakota to face a murder charge in the death of his girlfriend.
John Baker is charged with second-degree murder in the death of 47-year-old Kelly Alspach. Her body was found Oct. 21 stuffed in a window seat in their home. An autopsy showed she died of blunt-force trauma to the head and asphyxia.
The 53-year-old Baker was arrested Oct. 24 at a relative's house in Garrison, N.D. He was ordered back to Nebraska this past week.
Dakota County Court records show a hearing in Baker's case has been scheduled for Wednesday. Bail is set at $1.5 million.
A message left Saturday for his court-appointed attorney wasn't immediately returned.
